NI to be paid only after 24 months moderators help

Post by kdoshi2005 » Sat Oct 29, 2005 8:09 pm

I came to UK in July and have started working for a company from August 2005, I already have a NI number, my company sends me a pay slip every month which shows deduction for Income Tax but no deduction for National Insurace, on inquiring I was told that I need to pay NI only after completing 24 months in UK, I need to know whether this is correct and if so will this affect my availing NHS or for FLR ? Moderators please help

This is quite a complicated area, and I realise that by posting this link it may through up more questions than it supplies answers. Nevertheless download Flowchart – National Insurance Contributions for employees coming from abroad

It might come down to ..."Are they working for an overseas employer?". Let me guess, kdoshi2005, you are working in the UK for an overseas employer?
will this affect my availing NHS or for FLR ?
No not at all. For a start, ability to use the NHS is not based upon whether any NI contributions have been paid.

I agree with your interpretation. Maybe you should print that flowchart and give to your employer ... tactfully ... and see how they react.

You want more? These days HMRC publish many of their internal staff manuals on the internet. If you go to :-

NIM33019- Special Cases: Class 1: Workers Going to and Coming from Abroad - Rest of the World (ROW) - contents

-: you will see links to lots more information. You already have the flowchart as from NIM33029.
