Original Documentation

Post by aspiringforhsmp » Tue Nov 01, 2005 5:47 pm

Hi,

I am under a service agreement with my current employer and they have kept in my original certificates i lieu of that agreement. When my service agreement would get over I would be above 28 and would lose the advantage. Can I supply the notarisd copy of the certificates.I have a letter from my employer that they have all my original certificates as a part of agreement.

Please reply on this as I urgently need to apply.

Thanks and regards

You would do best to call up the HSMP team and get clearance for that before you apply, and then cite the name of the person ( or get some other type of documentation out of them in the form of a fax) who would agree to let you submit the notarized copies. I dont think I have seen a case like this before. I will warn you however that you could have a bit of a fight on your hands with this- any cases where there is something rather unusual that may require slightly more thought have proven in the past to be difficult to get cleared.

Aside from the advise already given, are you sure that your employment contract holds good in the court of law? Some companies do hold on the degree certificates and travel documents to ensure low turnover of their employees. IMHO, its a very disagreeable way to ensure employee loyalty and it only adds to resentment. I would advise you to show your employment contract to a local lawyer because a employment contract that ensures the custody of your documents in the hands of your employer may not even be valid.

What happens if you let your employer know that you may be interested in weekend college to pursue a Post Graduate diploma of some sort and you need your documents to submit to the concerned college? Would they deny you the right to your documents?

Only original paperwork will be accepted by the HSMP caseworking team in line with a change of policy a few months ago to curb applications based on potentially forged documents.

I am not aware of any exceptions to this policy.

If I may ask, how do you intend to provide notarised copies if you don't have the originals? The notary public is obliged to see the original papers before notarising the copies.
