Is there any guidelines or statutory requirement placed on the HO to respond to a letter querying the status of an application?

As my previous post stated, we have written to the HO regarding our application; this was done over a month ago and we are still waiting for even an acknowledgement that they have receive this letter, not to mention our application. Just wondering if anyone had any ideas or experiences?

Sometimes it takes up to 2 months for HO to reply to a letter. They don't normaly send an acknoledgement letter stating that they've received a letter. they writte an aknoledgment letter just for applications.
