Baby Photos on Application

Post by jimbo_uk » Thu May 20, 2010 3:43 pm

Hello,

I need to get a Passport for my son (non-urgent) - he is 3 days old.

I understand that he is British by birth (he was born in the UK to a naturalised father), so we just fill out the passport form. No other registration required.

I think i would really struggle to get him into a photo booth, looking at the camera, without me in the picture.

would it be OK for me to take a photo of him while he is laying down, against a plain sheet - then take this into a photo development shop to be developed? Would it be OK that his eyes are closed?

Does anyone have any photo experience with getting UK passports for newborns?

Thanks

Firstly, congratulations on the baby!

Have a good read of the guidance from the Passport Agency ... click here .... in particular the section headed "Children".

If I were you I would go to a professional photographer, to take an acceptable photograph of a child so young. Even a High Street shop that advertises a take-a-passport-photo service could well be able to help, and should be able to deal with this issue a lot better than you could at home.
