UK citizen to marry US citizen who is working here.

Post by Kadian » Sat May 22, 2010 2:38 pm

I'm sorry for troubling everyone if this information is elsewhere, I have tried looking with no luck. :(

Basically I am a UK citizen living here, my other half is a US citizen and came here to study a Master's degree under the student visa, following that he applied for the Post Study work visa and soon after he got employer sponsored visa which he currently is on.

We plan to marry and settle in the UK but I was wondering if he would need to apply for any other visa/documents prior to our marriage and then after? (Based on his Tier 2 status)

Any input would be really appreciated
Many thanks :)

Where do the two of you plan to marry? In the UK? US? Elsewhere? I know you say "We plan to marry and settle in the UK", but does the "in the UK" cover just "settle", or "marry" as well?

OK, thanks for clarifying. In that case he needs to apply for a CoA ... Certificate of Approval to Marry ... unless it is intended that the marriage will be (specifically) in a Church of England Church.

For more details about CoA ..... click here.
