INFROMATION REGARDING BENIFITS AND AFFECTS ON ILR

Post by THEATH » Mon Jun 07, 2010 1:05 pm

Hi everyone I'm new here so please bare with me, I have a bit of a problem. My brother is married to a Zimbabwe lady who is about one month away from attaining her ILR, but they have found themselves in a very difficult position as my brother has become very ill since JAN 10. He is frightened of claiming any benifits as he fears this will stop his wife getting her IRL. I believe that he may be able to claim DLA and some housing benifit. At the moment he is only receiving Statatory Sick Pay, but his wife is working two job's to help keep them afloat. They are both struggling both finacialy and phisically. I sincerley hope someone can help with some advice as I'm very worried about them.

hie

i would advise them not to jepordise their ILR application by trying to claim any benefits that they may/will be entitled to once their ILR application goes through....its only a month away. They can try to get an appointment to make the ILR application at a public enquiry office that way, all being well, they can get their ILR on the same day....and when they make the application for the benefits in question they will be sure of their position i.e whether they are eligible or not
