Hi aruni
thanks for the reply. i went through the link. i have a question regarding the salary proofs. actually they have asked for two proofs. 1. pay slip and 2.bank statement. the problem is certain components of my salary does not reflect in bank statement like PF & tax. Any idea how to deal with these. Also for tax paid i dont have any proofs. i will be getting form 16 at the end of the year. I am not qualified for hsmb(100 point) without claiming PF & tax. Please advise me how to deal with this.

You need to claim the sum of the gross salaries pertaining to the claim period.

Regarding your PF query, sushdmehta has already answered in the other thread. Regarding your tax, you dont need your form 16 to prove your tax. Your payslip will normally have your gross pay, tax deducted and net pay. You have to consider the sum of gross pay for your previous earnings period as suggested above by gd_shepherd.

Hi
I am talking about the following in policy guide. Which talks about submitting tax return docs. I am getting my tax return docs once in a year. so is there any source where I can get the documents for the tax paid till now and submit.

"Official tax document produced by iv) the tax authority or employer, showing earnings on which tax has been paid or will be paid in a tax year. For these purposes, we define official tax documents as:

a document produced by a tax authority
• that shows details of declarable taxable income on which tax has been paid or will be paid in a tax year (for example a tax refund letter or tax demand);
a document produced by an employer as
• an official return to a tax authority, showing details of earnings on which tax has been paid in a tax year (for example a P60 in the United Kingdom); or
a document produced by a person,
• business, or company as an official return to a tax authority, showing details of earnings on which tax has been paid or will be paid in a tax year. The document must have been approved, registered, or stamped by the tax authority (this is particularly relevant to some overseas tax systems, for example SARAL in India).

Clearly you did not go through the policy guidance carefully as suggested by sushdmehta.

Tax documents are one of the several evidences you can show to prove your income. They are not mandatory to prove your income if you can show 2 documents from different sources.

Also you cannot use the tax documents if you claim period does not match with the financial year. You missed/ignored reading the below point from the policy guidance.

Please note that because tax documents are usually produced at the end of a fixed tax period they will not necessarily show the entire period for which the applicant is claiming previous earnings unless they are for the exact period claimed. An applicant should therefore be cautious about using these documents unless he/she is sure they show the exact amount of earnings for which he/she is claiming points.

To prove your earnings before tax, as already suggested you dont need tax documents. Have a look at your payslip it will have gross pay, tax and net pay.

I dont know how much i should be saying this...

Anyways..

Gross Salary = Acceptable previous earnings for Tier 1 General VISA
provided you give two valid - acceptable evidences against ur claim....
that can be any of the below
1. Bank Statement and Original Salary slips (in case of electronically generated pay slips, it should be attested by the authorised signatory from the respective department.

Point 1 is a very valid form of providing evidences for Previous Earnings

Other evidences may include

2. Letter from employer with salary payment details for each month along with a complete break up
3. Form 16 in Original
4. Letter from bank stating salary payment details (letter should be on a official stationary of bank).

FOR THE acceptable COMBINATION OF DOCUMENTS / evidences TO SUBMIT, PLEASE REFER Latest updated Tier 1 Policy GUIDANCE.

For ur other question....
Educate yourself that the net salary mentioned in the pay slip should only match with the bank payment (salary credited) and not your gross pay and salary credit.

You can use the point based calculator that is available online to assess if you are qualified. Use the Total gross figure in rupees here for ur previous earnings section.

Understand that your gross = net taxable income
NET TAXABLE INCOME BEFORE ANY DEDUCTION LIKE PF OR INCOME TAX OR PROFESSIONAL TAX OR ANY DEDUCTION MADE UNDER SECTION 80 C OR ANY OTHER SECTIONS UNDER HRA OR WHATEVER///

Few items can not be used in the previous earnings section are
1. Claims (like mediclaim) and
2. Reimbursements (you go for a team outing in office and submit a claim for that to be paid with the salary).
In simple words, whatever the taxable component that ur employer pays - you can always show that as ur gross.

ufffffffff - I dont know how this topic was not locked Probably Sushdmetha was in a good mood. LoL

Hope this detail helps !!!!

OP needs to understand that the earnings are assessed on gross salary, which may (or may not be) different from taxable salary.
