Family Visitor Visa Documents check list

Post by December31 » Sat Jul 24, 2010 3:24 pm

I am applying for a UK family visitor's visa for my mother-in-law for 6 months stay from India. Mentioned below are the list of documents I am enclosing with the application.

1. Invitation letter for my mother-in-law.
2. Sponsorship letter for my mother-in-law by myself and my wife.
3. 6 months Bank statement.
4. 6 months pay slips.
5. Tenancy agreement(the agreement is expired now ) + a letter from the letting agent staying I am still staying in the apartment + a letter from the landlord stating that she has no objection if my mother in law stays with us at her house.
6. House registration document in local language ( and its english transilation ) which shows apartment registered on the name of my mother-in-law to prove that she has close ties to India.
7. My wife's birth certificate to proved the relationship.
8. Council tax bill and Telephone bill for address proof.
9. Photocopies of our passports to prove we have valid Tier 1 visa till 2013.
10. My mother-in-law's bank statement in India.

Please let me know if missed any document ?

I think you need to show more incentives that your mother in law will return back home after visit. Most visitors visa refusals are not as a result of what the sponsor provides, its what the applicant doesnt provide to show that there are enough incentives to return home after visit.

Maybe a family tree, savings, land etc would be helpful besides above

Thanks for the suggestion batleykhan, but not sure how I can show the family tree. Will a brief letter explaining that my mother-in-law is responsible for looking after her parents in India along with photocopies of my mother-in-law parent's passports help ?

Hi

The thread is very useful. Thanks. Can you please let me know that if I am fully sponsoring my mother's trip, do I need to send original bank statements and salary slips in the post, or can I scan all documents from here itself.

Thanks

entirely your choice - originals are not mandatory but if you wish you can send; good quality scanned documents will also serve the purpose.

Great, Thanks Ban.S

Presumably that also works even if I am paying for her flights and accommodation (mother retired and can't afford trip by herself).
