Help on Tier 1 dependant visa

Post by Charliewhite » Fri Jul 30, 2010 4:10 pm

I’m planning to get married in couple of months from my home town in India and I wish to apply the dependent visa.

Currently I’m in UK under tier1 general visa around 13 months (1 year + 1 month) before that more than 1 and half year under work permit. Totally around 3 years I am living in UK.

1. I didn’t go through any biometric test while I have applied my visa. Is it compulsory to my dependant to go through biometric test?
2. Is it so. What is the process? Do I require any appointment? can i compaine both visa appointment and biometric test? It will be more helpful if I get more details on this.
3. Regarding Maintenance fund I need to keep (£533 +£800) minimum of three months period. Hope this is right as I am here more than a year. Can I keep the maintenance fund in my account? Else my dependant needs to keep the money in her account.
4. Regarding Marriage Certificate – are we here mentioning the certificate which is provided from church or else where. Can you please clarify? Basically I’m a Christian. I am not aware of other certificate. If there some thing else is there where I can get the same. If any seniors married at church please help here…
5. And what are the other documents require obtaining the dependant visa.

1. Were fingerprints and photograph taken when *you* applied for Tier 1 (General) EC from home country? If yes, your biometrics were taken.
2. Your spouse will need to provide biometrics when he/she applies for EC as dependent of Tier 1 (General). This is generally done on the same day of application submission / payment of fees.
3. See VFS India, INF21/INF22 and Forms.
4. The money (800+533) can be in your account (in UK or anywhere), no problem.
5. Marriage certificate issued by registrar of marriages, civil court are surely valid. Unable to comment if a certificate issued by church will be acceptable or not.
6. Read information / documents given in the links above.
