When we sponsored someone for a UK visa, we obliterated our account number for the same reason you have cited... security! But we left our name and address as was. We then explained in the sponsorship letter, which she handed over at the BHC, that we had erased our bank account number because we did not feel comfortable having it so exposed!adrianuk wrote:Hi. I`m helping my friend from Russia visit the UK and will be her sponsor. For security reasons will the embassy allow me to take my Account Number out of my bank statements? Or do copies of bank statements need to be 100% exact? Your help and advice will be really appreciated. Thanks a lot.
Every case is different if you were lucky this does not mean we should make this general rule. When we sponsored someone for a UK visa, we obliterated our account number for the same reason you have cited... security! I mean it's bad enough that they can see of your financial details. No need to throw in the account number as well!
Anyway when all is said and done, our relative got the visa without any problems regarding the omitted account number.
Good luck!
Of course 'every case is different'! I was just sharing my experience. We sponsored more than once for different people and obliterated our account number everytime! Not once was a visa refused for that reason!alikhan28 wrote:Hi

I dont think this is a good idea.
