Translation of Bank Statment - Please help

Hello Experts,

I am going to apply for Tier 1 from Norway.
My original bank statements are in Noriegean Language.

I am trying to get these document translated but, official translation (with sign and stamp) is very very expensive here in Norway (I have to pay approximatelly 7400 NOK for 6 pages which is equals to approx 800 GBP).

Is there any other way to get the translated document verified. I mean to say if I get the unofficial translation from translator, and get these sign and stamp by my Bank. Is this acceptable?

Does anyone have some suggestion for me?

I was told that only the codes and one statement need to be translated as my statements are in Dutch. I would inquire directly with the customer service. I'm including it with my application.

You will also need to provide a translation of any supporting documents which are not in English, or your application may be refused. Each translated document must:
- be dated;
- include the translator's name and signature; and
- include confirmation that it is an accurate translation of the original document.

What exactlly the 3rd point means here
"include confirmation that it is an accurate translation of the original document"
Does it mean that translated documents needs to be verified by a legal autharity for example Police in Norway.
If I go for this options translators charge lot of money.

They are ready to give translation with their own name, signature date.
I can also ask translator to provide a cover letter stating that these are accurate translation.

Also is this translated documents needs to be on the letter head of that translator (what if he/she is an autharised free lancer and dont have his/her letter head?)?

Overall is a free lancer registered translator is acceptable without translation on the letter head?

Please help me with your valuable suggestions

I really do recommend that you contact the customer service agency for the country you will be applying with regards to the bank statements. I have a statement from them I'm including where they state "not the whole bank statement but only the codes. They do the currency conversion". I would have had to get over 40 pages translated otherwise.

I am using a visa service because of being refused the first time due to my errors and wanted to make sure it's right. The service did question why I only had one statement translated (make sure it's one you are sending for claiming points). The statement I'm using has a seal and a stamp from the translator.

Also for the maintenance, make sure you have the statement up to the date that you completed the online application which is the application date. In addition, my salary is deposited one after I've actually worked as I'm not a 'salary' employee and I stated this specifically in the cover letter. They are looking for both net (matching bank statement) and gross I was told for the salary.

I hope to be able to submit everything tomorrow. I'll keep you posted.

I will definatelly try to call Visa office but I am worried that if there is a mismatch of opinion in visa service officer and case worker.

As a good news, I found a translator who will do 1 page of translation in approx 30 GBP and I have only 7 pages. So I think I should go for translation of each page also.

I would be very happy if you can help me with some small doubt as below:
Doubt 1) Is signature, date and stamp from translator on each page OK or it has to be on letter head also?

Doubt 2) I am attaching the Bank statments for my 12 Months of earning and also translation.
Now, do I need to attach seperate statement for Maintainence fund or I can give refernce of earning section?
I am also applying for my wife together with me, Can I do the same as I have to show the maintainenece fund there also?

Its anyway the same statment so I think its not needed to attach 3 sets of original bank statments.

Please suggest and once again Very Good Luck for your application

***make sure the translator attests that it's a true translation from Norwegian to English on the translation*** whether it's in the letter or on the document itself as what's pointed out in step 3.

This is just my opinion, however, it's best to be overly cautious as other senior members have said as well my visa service.

My statements are stamped and signed that this is a true translation from xxx language to English with the signature on the first page. The translator used a seal to stamp all the pages. If the translator is willing to give the letter as well stating the number of pages etc why not go ahead and get it. Explain this all in your cover letter.

I'll come back to you if I hear more today. This is such a stressful process. I've worked in three other countries and by far this has been the most labor intensive process. It's primarily from the whole financial part which you will see has caused the most stress through out the forum. We've become such a paperless society there has got to be a better way but hey these are the rules.

Perhaps one of the seniors have an opinion however my thoughts on this are as long as the statements show the previous 90 days prior to the application you should be fine. I have a separate savings account and had statements printed up to my application date.

I've seen so many posts that state the applications were declined due to the maintenance fund that I would do everything possible to make sure the ECO understands that the same statements are being used for the qualifying funds. My bank statements verifying salary were only until August which is why I included the separate statements for maintenance funds until October. An 8 day difference existed with the application date and my last statement so I got the extra one.
