Secondment under Tier 1

Hi All,

I was working in the UK as a consultant on secondment from overseas branch of our firm. I had Tier 2 (Intra-Company Transfer) visa and my salary was paid abroad.

I have switched into Tier 1 (General) in order to find a permanent full-time job in the UK.

Now my company is offering to continue work for them on secondment on a foreign contract with salary continued to be paid abroad.

The question: is it possible to work in the UK under secondment with a Tier 1 visa or do I have to switch to Tier 2?

My confusion is provoked by the comment on UKBA website here: http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk/en/ecg/visita ... essvisitor

"Where a person is employed by an overseas company and is being transferred to fill a skilled post in a UK entity that is related to the overseas company, he must qualify to do so under the Intra Company Transfer (ICT) arrangements of Tier 2 of the points-based system. Persons coming to work in the UK in any other circumstances must qualify to do so under the relevant Tier of the points-based system."

An overseas company recruits you on the rolls of a non-UK office, pays your salary overseas ... but wants you to work in the UK (in the employer office or at a client).

If my understanding is correct, shouldn't be a problem.

And don't compare rights of a business visitor to work in the UK with those of a Tier 1 (general) migrant.
