Living costs question

Post by hamster88 » Sun Oct 31, 2010 12:26 pm

Hi i am applying for a Visa for my wife in Beijing China.
Form VAF4A, 8.7.15, How much does your sponsor spend each month on living costs ?

I live with my parents and I have no rent, utility bills or mortgage or loans. So would I just put down a big fat zero as the answer ? I have no payments coming out of my bank account.
Thanks.

To avoid falling into the 'no 3rd party financial support' trap, you would be wise to at least show a nominal weekly amount towards food and household expenses. Where will you be living once your wife arrives here?

You can state that once your wife arrives you'll be contributing x amount for food and x amount for utililty bills (gas/elec) etc. You decide the amount...whatever you think sounds reasonable.

would i put this in 8.7.14 how much of sponsors income given to family members ? or 8.7.15 how much sponsor spends on living costs ?

would i put 0 in one and the figure in another ? or same amount for both ?

I would put 0 in the first and contribution amount in the 2nd. My reasoning is that you're not paying anyone specifically (parents etc), you're simply contributing your share into 'the pot'. Mention in your sponsor's letter that you will contributing towards household expenses to allow for the extra cost of your wife living there. You don't need to show you're paying rent as this wouldn't increase with the additional member in the family...food and utility usage would.

I've found your other thread. On their own, the part-time earnings probably wouldn't be considered sufficient but added with the rental income and your substantial savings this should be fine. You say you're paid 'cash in hand'. Do the pay slips show tax and NIC deductions?
As you're living with family it would be wise to get a property inspection report.

i only recently had my rental income and the pay slips dont show ni and tax as they are £110 a week and at the time no tax and ni is necessary according to the accountant.
