Hello all,
I am in absolute confusion and I hope someone can give me some enlightenment. I am a Singaporean holding a Tier1 Post study work visa in the United Kingdom. My husband is an E.U Citizen residing and working in Germany.
Earlier today, I submitted my German residence permit (joining spouse) application and I was told that my Tier1 post study work visa will become invalid after 6 months. I was also told that if I am going to continue to work in the UK I will have to sort something out with my boss. I was like... what the heck? you are telling me that my UK visa which is expiring in 2012 will become invalid in the next 6 months and that if I want to continue to work in the UK I will have to obtain something from the UK home office again.
I then called the London Heathrow airport borders office asking them if obtaining a German residence permit will have any effect on my work visa in the UK. They said, "nope. you enter the UK as a singaporean holding a valid UK visa and it only expires in 2012. so there's no problem and that having a german residence permit will not have any effect on your UK work visa. But, perhaps the German has a problem."
So my question is, is it permitted to hold both German residence permit and a UK work visa in the same passport? I mean, my intention of getting a german residence permit is that I will be able to visit my hubby more often without having the tourist restrictions stay.
N.B: As a singaporean I do not need a visa to visit Germany for a maximum of 3 months over a 6months timeframe.
Insights will be truly appreciated! and sorry if I have posted this topic in the wrong section. I am not exactly sure which forum I should be writing on but I am guessing the Europe Immigration forum will be the most appropriate of all.
Many Thanks
