Hi guys,
I am a Singaporean lawyer with about 8 years of legal experience (but none in Australia), and I'm interested in migrating to Victoria or NSW.. My occupation does not appear on Schedule 3 of the SOL and it seems like Victoria's new SMP does not include lawyers, so Schedule 4 of the SOL wouldn't work for me either.
What options do I have right now? Would an employer-sponsored visa be difficult to get as a foreign lawyer? I've heard that the old boys network in Australian law firms is very strong and there doesn't seem to be a shortage of native lawyers, so it seems pretty tough to get a law firm interested in me. How do lawyers generally obtain immigration to Australia?
Thanks for your help!
