Visitors visa for US Citizen

Post by davejenk » Sat Dec 11, 2010 10:49 am

Hi,

My girlfriend (a US citizen) has recently been granted a visitors visa to come to the UK for 2 weeks over christmas to visit me and my family. We weer just wondering, does she need to bring any documentation with her other than the visa itself?

We were thinking she would probably need the documentation she sent off when applying for the visa, is this correct? also, does she need any up to date proof of funds (bank statement, etc) or are the ones provided with the visa application acceptable?

One final question, is she liekly to be asked many questions at the border now that she is holding a visitors visa? She had a bad experience last year when she was refused entry, so is understandably quite nervous about this!

Thanks for any help, it is much appreciated!

Visitors can expect a grilling if they don't have an entry visa. A US national who has just been granted a visa is unlikely to get a grilling because that's already been sorted out. I would say it would be sensible for her to have proof of funds and maybe proof of her onward travel date but that's about it.
