tax credit with settelment visa.

Hi,I just receved my settlment visa for me and my family.and i applied for tax credit.its now over 6weeks.every time i call they said because of my visa statue it take longer.they keep saying this since 3 weeks.do you thing i might have problem?would it effect my visa?how long it take to reward? pls can john answe this for me.thank you. :o
