Pdf vs Online form - use "Additional Information"

Post by simantadatta » Sun Dec 26, 2010 10:41 am

I am filing Tier-2 dependant for my daughter and noticed that the online form does not have few questions that the old pdf form (vaf10) had. They are the main applicant's COS number and how is the maintenance going to be done. I was wondering if I should use the additional information section to write the below ?

"MAIN APPLICANT COS CxxxxxxxxN, ALSO ENCLOSED LETTER FROM A-RATED SPONSOR CONFIRMING THAT THE APPLICANT IS A DEPENDANT OF A TIER 2 (SKILLED WORKER) AND THE SPONSOR WILL PROVIDE THE MAINTENANCE AND ACCOMMODATION ACCORDING TO THE DEPENDANT POLICY GUIDANCE"

Will it be a good idea to do that ? Or should I just leave it (UKBA don't ask and I don't tell!!)

Thanks,
Simanta

download the most-recent form which is recommended by UKBA and thats it. They update the application forms all the time, so if they dont ask for something in newer application forms, they probably dont want to know!!

I am NOT "downloading" any form, I am filling up the ONLINE form. I understand your point, but is there a chance that by giving that additional pointer may work "against" my application ? (personally I would doubt that, but every forum member can have differnet opinion so I wanted to check)

My logic is that most applicants prove maintenance using bank statement , and my application would NOT have any bank statement...There's a slight chance that the case officer may just ignore/miss the fact that there is a "checkbox" on my COS about dependant support, and there is a letter from my A-rated sponsor, ...And seein that there's no bank statement he may refuse the visa. It will be a mistake from his side but will cost a lot to me !!.. So by giving that information in the additional information, I am only trying to be completely clear UNLESS that can ever work against my application.

i see your point....

usually they have a section, where they ask applicant to provide additional info that might be relevant. use that section to your heart's content. make sure you explain anything very concisely. no need for it to be an essay. break it dwn in bullet points, rather than paragraph

as a rule of thumb:-

1) tell them why you are using this section.
2)explain whatever you have got there to explain
3)summarise again, what you just told

Well that's what I wrote before.. the "Additional Info" section is what I was planning to write that stuff.. the onlin form only has about 200 words limit or something, so only that much as what I have written fits in
