Work Permit (not given?)

Post by vishal_bhatiya » Mon Feb 20, 2006 10:51 am

Hi All,

Just needed to highlight a specific case of mine where my company had applied for me for a work permit. This was in Oct 04. At that time I was in UK on a business visa for some company trainings. At this time my company applied to Home Office for processing my WP.
But due to immigration rule changes which came in between my application, which do not allow switching from Business to WP, were enforced. Due to which I got an in-country approval (also my FLR was rejected) but not the actual WP copy. Hence I was asked to go back to my home country (India) and apply for a EC (Entry Clearance). I went for an interview at Chennai embassy and got my EC for application period of 2 years. Now my situation is that I have a WP visa (stamped in my passport) but not the actual WP.
This was neither given to me by Home Office in UK or in Chennai embassy. I've travelled to UK twice on the same WP and it seems fine except for the part where I do not have the actual WP.
Now for any activities in UK I need the WP. So do you think I can approach the Home Office or Chennai embassy directly or what is the situation? Has anyone else faced the same problem. Please do provide me some light on what went wrong?

Regards
Vishal
