Dear All,
This might sound a little funny and confusing. I came to the UK 6 years ago to study for my Sixth form for 2 years before going to pursue a 3-year undergraduate degree and a year of Masters. The problem is my passport is and has always been registered with my name without a surname, i.e. X. When I first opened up an account in HSBC, the account name was XX and it has always been so since I thought they had to put down a name in the surname and I didn't really have any problems with it.
Since I'm applying for PSW, my passport, university letter and degree certificate will only have X, while my bank statement will have XX. HSBC wouldn't write me a letter confirming that XX is X apart from confirming I have been a customer for 6 years. I do have my A-Level certificated which were printed with XX. I have an appointment booked for premium service on 12th and I don't really have the time to change my name in the bank account (if that's even allowed) since they'll have to cancel my card and cheque book while I'll need them to pay for the PSW fee. I am wondering if it is safe me to explain the situation to them verbally and possibly show them my A-Level certificates since there's no other way I could prove that XX is indeed X. I would really appreciate any advice. Thank you so much!
