Planning for UPV

Post by Wanderer » Tue Feb 28, 2006 1:42 pm

Dunno if anyone knows our situation but it's basically this:

Me, UK and British
Her, Russian

We will get married, but in our own time so we really want to plan for a UPV really starting from now. We've basically transferred her out of her Russian uni to one here, costing an absolute fortune of course but we feel it's a dual benefit, gives us time to really know each other, and if things go pear-shaped, she has an international education which will be a great benefit to her back home. Of course I would be totally penniless but that's the price of love!

Anyway, that's pessimists' talk. She's been here with now for just over six months, and has a student visa/residence permit until October 2008. The only things we really have to prove we are living together is we have council tax in both our names, and of course she recieves post her, and the uni has her as living her. We do need a joint account but to be honest that's been a bit of nightmare, but I'm still working on it!

So what else should I be doing?

Utility bills in both our names?
Electrol Roll?

IND have her address as here and me as her sponsor again address here from the FLR(S) extention.

House lease is in my name and I don't really want to go there, had enough bother with the letting agents in the past!

To be honest none of this is really evidence, she could still be in Russia and I could add her name to all these documents. What is the IND really looking for? Scant evidence or positive proof?

She has to study in germany from Sept 2006 to June 2007, but with frequent visits to and fro and this address being her habitual one I can't see an issue here? I know I've asked this one before, seeking validation!

Any more suggestions?

Steve and Nadia

Bank statements, addressed to each of you? NHS cards? Indeed absolutely anything addressed to either of you, at that one address, is potentially of help after you have lived together for two years.
We do need a joint account
No, not absolutely necessary ... separate bank accounts are totally OK.
