Hi
I need advise on a General Visitor coming to the UK to marry. I am a UK citizen and my gf is a American citizen, shes coming to the UK in July on a Visit and we would like to get married. She is 19 years old and I'm 28, we met through the internet and have been in a relationship for over 2 years.
I know there have been legal challenges to age marriage age increase to 21 and that increase was deemed illegal by Court of Appeal on the Burnett J in Quila v Secretary of State for the Home Department case. Link: http://www.mbssolicitors.co.uk/componen ... cle-2.html
I have seen on the UK Border Agency page that Visitors coming to marry must be over the age of 18. Link: http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/visit ... /eligible/
I have also seen that the Certificate of Approval (COA) is being removed this Spring as it has been deemed illegal after the case of O'Donoghue v UK. Link: http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitec ... oa-changes
I would like to know if gf & I would be able to get married this July when she comes?
Thanks
