Tier 1 extension - previous earnings confusion

Post by D K » Tue Feb 08, 2011 11:43 am

Hi guys,

I applied for my tier-1 visa in Nov, 2008 but only came to UK in Oct, 2010.

Though I still have 1 year till I apply for extension in Oct 2011, I had a bit of confusion on the previous earnings part.

I see it on the website that the points for previous earnings depend on the band, I have heard from a couple of people that the minimum earnings HAS to be 40,000 GBP for the last year.

Can somebody please help me as to what is the correct criteria.

Cheers!

The following link will answer your questions about Previous Earnings. Be sure to check appropriate band for your visa granted in 2008.

Reading the Tier 1 (General) policy guidance will help.

People who have applied INITIAL application from OUTSIDE UK then they will be little taken aback during extension. Because rules for even initial application was difficult (minimum salary of 40K) to qualify compared to initial application filed from Asia (since they use 5.2 multiplier factor). So when you apply for extention you need to meet initial application criteria which is 40K.

There is no set limit of 40k.

As the initial application was made in 2008 when the earnings thresholds were lower, depending on age they could require a salary of far less than this amount.
