Tier 1 general - 10 months Early extension

Post by vinothjanarthanan » Wed Feb 09, 2011 7:35 pm

Hi,

My Tier general visa expires on Jan-2012. I am planning to go for renewal by March-2011 (10 months prior to the actual extension).

Will there be any issues in this regards?

Please let me know if anyone gone through the same scenario.

Thanks in advance.

Kindest Regards,

Vinoth

I am confused in the statement. Do You meant to say, I cant apply 28days before?

Please clarify.

Thanks
Vinoth

Hi vinothjanarthanan,

There is no fixed rule stopping you from applying. They advise applying close to when your visa expires, but it is not a rule by the Home Office.

Just bear in mind that if you renew your visa way ahead, you might need to renew it one extra time to get ILR, because you will probably be short of some months to qualify.

You can extend at any time even if it is before 2 year but be care full that now a days Ukba is granting visas from the date when they are taking decision on you FLR application.in this case you might have to go for another extension before you can qualify for ILR.

Check the extension timelines in the thread above.

If you want to do it only because you are worried about changes to extension rules, don't do it. Extension rules are very likely to stay the same, as was indicated by numerous correspondence from UKBA posted here.
