how can I know the code of practice? (work permit holder)

Post by SunnyG » Thu Mar 17, 2011 11:53 pm

Hi,

For the new rules from april 2011, people will need to show their job's salary can met the Standard Occupational Classification salary level rate or so.

I'm a work permit holder and hopefully to apply for the ILR in Dec. However, I'm not quite sure which code of practice should be used for my job. The title is not in the list, although some jobs may be similar to what I'm doing now.

So can I check my SOC code from HO using my work permit ref number, or should I provide some employer letter to explain which code of practice should be used? I checked my work permit file copy and there is no such code info at all.

Many thanks for any answer in advance!

if you need to make a tier 2 application, then your job MUST be on the list.

If it is not, then find the one closest to your current job.

The code of practice is out there, (see another thread dedicatedto new Tier 2 rules) and make sure your job pays you accordingly

Ideally, its the emplyer's responsibility to do that stuff, but if you wanna help, then im sure you can suggest few things

cheers

PS. you might get away with that requirement since you are already on work permit. im not too sure on that subject. sorry
