Can someone else pay for a Tier1 (General) Applicant?

Can someone use their credit/debit card and pay for an applicant? or does the person need to be a dependant before such a payment can be made?

To answer your question,
Yes, someone else can pay for you, (Better if they are on the same address as you)

They need to give their full name in the form with their signature as consent,

However, Paying through Credit Card is not an advisable mode of payment since credit cards are four stage process, it can be declined at any stage, and there are many strings attached.

Eventhough UKBA accepts Credit Card payment, it is better to withdraw funds from the Credit card and pay as Postal Order (it will cost you few bucks but worth doing).
