Today was the last day that one could have applied to switch to Tier 1 (General) category.

The door is now closed, bolted and locked.

But I score the required points and can provide all the necessary documentation. Please confirm my eligibility to apply now.

It is a pity you have missed the deadline for the application for Tier 1 (general). It closed on April 5, 2011. The new route introduced by the UKBA (with effect from April 6, 2011) is the "Exceptional Talent" scheme. Unfortunately the UKBA has not published the entire details. Alternatively, you can look at the Tier 2 option if it favours you. Take care.

Let's try again.

If a given immigration category is no longer open / available for new applicants, does it matter if you perceive that you are eligible for it? Being eligible for something that is no longer available doesn't mean anything.

You may have the vouchers to buy a specific product but if that product is no longer sold the vouchers are worthless!
