What are my options to remain in UK?

Post by thestas » Wed Apr 20, 2011 8:24 am

Hi there,

We the recent change to the Tier 1 visa I don't know what my options are. I am a Canadian on a tier 5 working holiday visa and had all the necassary requirments for applying for the Tier 1 visa, which I planned to do when my current visa ran out. Could anyone please give me some advice or tell me another way to go about staying in the country.

Currently I have a full time job working for a bank.

Thanks.

Hi, if you are planning to work and stay here in UK, I can see only 2 viable options. Either get a sponsor company who can do Tier-2 or marry British citizen. I am sure you have your own plan, but just my 2 cent, I been to Canada and if I had the option to stay there I wont come to UK who is the only country that changes rules every now and then retrospectively.

Or qualify through family links:
- if you have a british born grandparent you can apply for an Ancestry Visa
- if you have an Irish born grandparent you can apply for Irish citizenship
- if you have Italian ancestors you may be able to claim citizenship

Otherwise Tier 2 is about it.
