Bank accounts in two different countries

Post by adamandjoe » Mon May 02, 2011 4:23 pm

Hi,

My friend is coming over to do a single year Masters course and just needs some advice on proving that they have enough funds to cover their stay.

The problem is that they have some money in a UK bank account (from when they were last here) and the rest in a Malaysian bank account.

So my questions are...

1. Is it ok to use to separate bank accounts with different currency as evidence of funds?

2. How do they prove that they have the required funds for 28 days? Do they have to ensure that they get bank statements from the two banks on exactly the same day or can it be on different dates?

Thanks in advance for your help!

1. It is ok to use separate account as long as the applicant name is on the account, if it is a joint account permission required from other account holder. You an check exchange rate on oanda.com

2. Statements shouldn't be older then 1 month on the day of application, different dates can be used!
