having to appeal

hi everyone. my wife received news from the pakistani embassy today that her visa has been refused and that we need to appeal. they have denied the visa on the grounds that it took 3 months for us to apply for a visa from the date we got married. but this time was used to sort all the documents, passports etc out, so can't really see wot they are getting at??
also along with mobile phone records showing the frequency of our calls. i included in it telephone cards which you can use to dial intenational numbers. but they saying the phone cards could be used by anybody, but that is why i have included the mobile phone statement showing that we have been in contact.
to me it sounds like they are being very picky, how can i rectify these problems when i appeal, any help is appreciated

There is no obligation to make a spouse settlement application within any given time after marriage, so the "grounds" to which you refer can't possibly be the reason why the application was refused. Then you go on to talk about phone records, which suggests that they harbour doubts about the amount of contact you have with your wife, thus there is no intention to live together.

You can only get worthwhile advice here if you post the actual wording of the refusal notice (removing personal identifiers). Otherwise you should consult a solicitor or immigration advisor qualified to represent you at an appeal. Probably you should do that anyway.

PS - you say 'pakistani embassy' - I assume you mean a UK visa office in Pakistan. If you're seeking advice on getting a visa for Pakistan, I withdraw my comments.
