Working permit for Romanian citizen

Post by anaalb » Wed May 25, 2011 11:32 am

hello,

As a Romanian citizen, I would like to know if I need to register for a Registration Certificate in order to work in the Uk; if so, is it only the self-employed section that I should take into considerantion, seeing that i'm not a student?
And can I apply for a National Insurance Number prior to having a registration certificate? what are the documents required for a NI application?
thank you!

As an A2 national you are allowed to work in the UK .... as self-employed .... but would need to get permission to be employed, which might be difficult.

So which is it, you want to be employed? Or self-employed?

What work would you like to do? What experience and/or qualifications do you have?

I am an authorised translator/ interpreter in Romania, I had a private office until 7 months ago (for 2 years). T
herefore, I was thinking I could apply for a translating/ receptionist or office assistant job, so that I can use my previous experience (working for several years as either secretary/order handling, before opening my own translation office).

Have a look here:

http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/emplo ... k-permits/

A potential employer would have to apply for a work permit for you. The application is free.

You could also do a course and work part time after getting a yellow card. After a year of working as an employee you could have unrestricted access to the labour Market with a blue card.

Have a look and see if you qualify for HSMP, also giving you unrestricted access to the UK labour market:
