Arrival time for dependent visa

Hi,
I need help. I am working in UK in Tier 2 general visa. We have applied for a dependent visa for my wife and she received it recently. Unfortunately her father has fallen ill and she might need to stay there for 3 more months. Is there any deadline for the her to arrive in UK? and if she crosses it will she have to apply again?

I would have thought she could travel at anytime as long as her visa is valid.
