Tier1 extn - depandant application without passport

Post by ammu28 » Mon Jun 06, 2011 1:32 pm

I am on Tier 1 General and visa expiring on 09th July 2011. We have filled the form for me and dependant rough copy before 2 weeks (was waiting for bank statements).
We copied the same to new copy over the weekend and were planning to apply today. Yesterday we realised that spouse passport is missing.

My questions are
1. Can we apply for Tier1 extn without passport?
2. Is it better to go in person and apply?
3. Apply for main applicant first and dependant later?

Please if anyone can reply with your ideas it would help us a lot.

Many Thanks in Advance,
ammus

if you are applying for your extension then you are fine but if you are filing the dependent application as well then you need passport for the dependent.

You need passport as mentioned in form:

For the application to be valid and complete, the dependant must provide his/her original current passport or travel document unless it is not available for one of the reasons specified on the application form.

You need passport! Passport is used both for identification and also for current visa details.

I have police complaint number stating that passport is lost. will this help in filling ?

"Passport / Travel document enclosed
â–¡ Yes
â–¡ No

If not enclosed then location of Passport/Travel Document
â–¡ Lost - go to question C7

C7. If any of the required passports are not enclosed then please explain why the dependant is unable to provide them.

"

<box to write the reason>

this is from depandant form.. Just wonder why they have these columns to fill.

thank you again for reply gurus..

I don't understand why aren't you getting the point, If you haven't got a passport you cannot apply for a dependent. they need the details off the passport specially the full name written on the passport and the passport number :?

Safest option is to apply for a new passport and then apply using a new passport.

The question here is, what is the UKBA procedure when applicant looses his passport just before he/she is going to apply for extension and visa is going to expire in couple of days time. Getting a new passport can take more than 3 weeks with some counslates. And by the time new passport is received the applicant would have overstayed by good 10-20 days.

What is the UKBA policy in this situation? I am sure there must be a way forward in this situation. You need to work on this and you will have your answer. Get in touch with UKBA and get the answer.

A police report as evidence of loss of passport.

By supplying police report, will the application be valid in the absence of passport or travel document?

See right-most column of C6 where "lost" and "stolen" are amongst the valid reasons. See also C7 and C8.

You'll note similar instructions in the application form meant for main migrant, in case the main migrant happens to be in a similar situation.

Also,
Passports or travel documents wrote:Passports or travel documents are mandatory in some specified forms. These are mainly PBS forms. If the form and/or guidance notes state that the applicant must provide these documents with the application, you should reject the application as invalid if this requirement is not met. This is unless the applicant or their representative is unable to provide their passport for one of the reasons listed inthe passport section of the application form.
ammu28, go ahead and apply - if you wish to.

thank you sush.
I got the same reply from solicitor. He asked me to apply for passport first, get the confirmation from embassy and apply with good cover letter explaining the loss and police report.

Fingers crossed, hope everything will be alright..

thanks,
ammu

Quick question :

My visa ending on 9th July and I got biometric appointment only for 20th July.

1. Will there any issue in my application ?
2. Can the approval happen before biometric and will this be informed before biometric ?

(I asked question2 because I have seen from timelnes that approval earlier and biometric later)

My mind is not working to get answers, please help.

Success story without depandant passport

Post by ammu28 » Sun Aug 07, 2011 12:33 pm

Hi guys,

Thank you everyone for your support especially sush :)

We received our new leave to remain till 2013 without any issue.
Police certificate and temporary passport was sufficient to get it extended.

My visa ended at 9th July 2011. The new visa date is from 29th July 2011.
Regards
Ammu
