Moving to UK on new Big4 job

Post by amonty » Mon Jun 05, 2006 1:16 pm

Hi friends,

I am moving to London on a job. I am getting a offer from a Big4 counsulting firm based in London. I am expecting to get something like 45k-50K basic + Benifits + Bonus annual.

Do you guys think this is a good salary to get in London? Can someone give me pointers as to the cost of rental housing (if I live outside of Central London), council tax, income tax on the above salary, electricity and water charges and other regular costs.

Warm regards,
Monty

Hello man. Thats a good salary, you'll be able to live comfortably on that salary in London without any trouble. I estimate you'd be looking at bringing home between about 2.5k to 3k a month after tax...

For me, I am living in a house in Barons Court (SW6) so not too far from Central London - sharing with gf and friend. We pay about 430 a month in rent and about 50 / month in council tax. Its 1.4k to 1.6k a year on our place.

Where abouts are you moving from?

Check the following link:

Should tell you how much your take home should be and you can do a proper budget. There are also very good websites around to tell you about the standard of living in London.

Good luck.

First of all thank you 'toby' and 'jes2jes' for replying to my query. Your replies have encouraged my decision making in favour of the UK job option. I was under the influence that 40-45K was too less for London.

As 'toby' says 430-500 GBP per month rent for a Studio / 1BHK looks affordable to me.

Thank you for the responses.

Warm regards,
Monty
