Thinking changing PSW to Tier2(general) but need advice

Post by trueblue86 » Wed Jul 27, 2011 9:27 pm

Hi, I am currently working for company A for 1 year 2 months now, which leaves me 10 more months before my PSW visa expire.

Recently, I've been called for an interview with company B. Company B are offering better job prospects this is why I'm thinking to move. Let say I did make it through and they are more than happy to take me in. What should I do in regards to my visa?

Ideally I would like to switch my PSW visa to tier2 general asap, as the immigration office is getting really strict on foreigners working in the UK these days and keep changing the rule. However, I've read the rule that in order to switch over from PSW, I need to have at least 6 months working history with my company. This is possible with company A, how about if I do change my job to company B, what are the options for me?

Would like to get opinion on this, and get my visa sorted out asap. Thanks so much for the time!

if your job with company B is on shortage occupation list.... then it doesn't matter if you are switching from psw or not asyou would score all the points.

if your job is NOT on the list, then the company B will need to do RLMT before issuing you a COS which is the first thing reqd before you apply for tier 2.

If you do not work for company B for six months they just have to make sure they do the resident labour market test, that is the only difference.
