Life in UK test requirement for ILR

Post by garyboy » Fri Aug 12, 2011 1:50 pm

Hi

My wife is a British Citizen and we are considering applying for permanent settlement in UK. Since we have been married and living outside the UK for four years now, i understand i could apply directly for an ILR.

However, one of the requirements for the ILR is to have successfully passed the Knowledge of Life in UK test, which can only be taken in the UK.

I would like to know if it is possible for a non-UK resident to travel to UK and take the test? I read that the test centers require proof of your post code in form of a bank statement / utility bill. However, i would not have any proof of a UK post code as i am not currently living there.

Also, is there a time limit after which the results of the Life in UK test become invalid?

Would appreciate if someone could throw some light on the above.

Thanks

Should be possible, do check before travelling. Test has no expiration.
