Deported - problem transiting thru London to Berlin?

Post by lostineu » Fri Sep 02, 2011 1:44 am

I was deported from scotland 5 years ago at customs--I'm not sure how long deportations stay on file. I am a U.S. Citizen-- will I have any issues transitting thru London to Berlin? My flight starts in Grands Rapids, Michigan and transits thru Toronto Canada and then London, England and finally to my destination Berlin, Germany. I want to be sure I won't be inconvenienced in London and not allowed to continue on to Berlin. Anyone who has valid information on this please help-- I would much appreciate it. Thank you,

If your flights in and out of London are from the same airport you should be able to transit airside and will have no contact with UK immigration.

If you need to change airports you will have to convince an Immigration Officer of your intention to travel onwards to Berlin. If your circumstances have changed for the better since your removal 5 years ago you will probably be asked a few questions then allowed to proceed, albeit maybe with an entry stamp limited to the departure date of your onward flight.
