Hi,
I'd be grateful if anyone can provide insight into my situation. My passport(Indian to be precise) has 2 separate fileds for name. 1) Surname 2) Given Names. For the purpose of this post i will try to explain with simple names. (My real name is very long)
1)Surname
'Sugar'
2) Given Names
'Andy Charlie Bobby'
There is no Middle Names field in my passport. I have always used 'Bobby' as my first name.
On my ILR stamp my name is printed in one long line something like this.
<<Sugar>Andy>C>B ( In the order listed in my passport)
If you noticed - my First name Bobby is printed as 'B'
I have always used Bobby as my first name. And my education certificates show my name as S.A.C. Bobby or Bobby S.A.C
(From the place i come its natural for name to be written this way - i had this right from my school).
The problem i noticed when applying for mortgage, my bank wanted to do credit check using 'Andy Sugar' as First name and Last name.
But i have pointed out i have used 'Bobby Sugar' as First and Last names and 'Andy Charlie' are my middle names.
Luckily i didnt have a problem during credit scoring.
Apparently they take first word from the Given Names as First Name(Sorry if you lost me on this)
I want my name to be correctly listed as follows in my passport.
Surname
'Sugar'
Middle names
'Andy Charlie '
First Name
'Bobby'
I plan to apply for indian embassy to endorse my name correctly (with proper middle names and first name - Surname won't change)
My Questions - If i apply for UK citizenship(and UK passport) will it be a problem when i want to use the correct name format.
Do i need to get ILR re-stamped when i endorse my name in passport this way.
I'm sorry if my post is confusing. But i just want to know if i correctly endorse or leave my name as it is - will it be a problem when applying for UK passport.
Thanks in advance.
