Tier 2 to ILR Dependant

Post by hasmukh95 » Sat Sep 17, 2011 8:57 pm

Dear Sir/ Madam,

I will be applying for ILR end of November 2011 with a combination of 4 months of work permit, 2 years of initial HSMP and 2.5 years of being under tier 1 general visa. My wife joined in May 2010 on a tier 1 general dependant visa. In August 2011, she had to change to tier 2 visa in order take up a training post as a doctor. I have a few querries.

1. What visa does my wife get ? I mean my friends tell me that she will get something called spouse visa or does she get ILR dependant ? Are they one and the same ?

2. Do I apply for her to be ILR dependant at the same time I apply for ILR or does she apply a few days after I get ILR?

3. Will my wife have any restrictions about working as a doctor in training ?

4. When will my wife be able to get her ILR?

I will be grateful for your help.

1. There is no "ILR dependant" visa.
2. After you are granted settlement, she should apply for FLR(M).
3. No.
4. Under current rules, 2 years from the day she is granted FLR(M) leave.
Life isn't fair, but you can be!
