Life in the UK Test

Post by UKbound » Sun Sep 18, 2011 9:12 am

Hi all:

I know some of you will probably tell me the answer is here on the website, but I've tried to find it and I can't find anything specifically on point.. so I want to get some advice...

I came to the UK with my partner in July 2006, but was approved for HSMP in May 2006 (post April, but before November). I'm assuming this means I fall under the November JR. It doesn't actually say anywhere that someone during this time automatically falls under one specific JR or another. So it's a basic (maybe stupid) question that I have.

I've applied for Tier 1 extensions since that programme has been in place, and have always qualified under any new criteria. I don't think the box for JR even existed in my first app for extension (under Tier 1), and since then I don't recall if I checked the box or not related to JR.

I needed to cover a 6 week gap in 2011 before I qualified for ILR, so I have a new 2 year extension under Tier 1, but I qualify for ILR so I've made an appointment for in person in October.

My question - I am not sure about the Life in the UK test. I don't think I need to take it until citizenship, but can someone confirm? Also, I assume this would be true of my partner too, since we came here together in 2006.

Thanks, appreciate the confirmation.
