Do I need to translate documents to english...

...even if they are in the local language of the consulate and they have, by their own admission, a trusted interpretor in the interview room?

This is madness if the answer is yes. The documents simply support the fact we lived together. How can we get them translated in a rural part of a large foreign country?

Also, they were not used and described as "written by friends, not in English". I would hardly describe the architect of the place I was staying or my wife's landlord as friends. It was nice for then to bother to write and confirm we lived together, and pretty much the only independant corroboration we could get. Many friends would have written, but I didn't feel they would be accepted.

To have them dismissed so out of hand beggars belief and makes one wonder what they will accept.

It makes me wonder if they will view and dismiss any references or letters I submit.
