is there no Tier2 General?

Post by mwalker_uk_bound » Wed Sep 28, 2011 11:43 pm

Immigration policies seem to change quicker than Google can phase out relevant content.. I've gone cross eyed trying to determine which Tier Visa to apply for.

US Software developer that is applying for 3 month contracts in the UK and have no idea which Tier Visa is the one to pursue.

Assistance is greatly appreciated.

Do you have an employer willing to sponsor you to work in the UK?

Yes, if they (recruiters) want to employ you. No, otherwise.

No sponsor ... no Tier 2.

and I also understand that there is a limited pool of sponsorships. Do you know if that has been exhausted for 2011? (definitely making less than 150K pounds)

All the valid Tier1 categories don't seem applicable for IT workers who need short term work. Is there a category that I've missed for Tier 1?

Much appreciated.

How many restricted certificates are available?
Allocations of restricted certificates of sponsorship

Unless you qualify for Tier 5 (Youth Mobility Scheme), Tier 2 is the only available option for you to work in the UK as an economic migrant.

Despite the information being ideal or not..

Just want to appreciate you for the information that you have given. Being informed makes me feel *much* more empowered in this situation.

Again, Thanks.

It looks like there are plenty of CoS left and that my chance of getting a RCoS is good?

Btw, I think Tier 1 Investor also allows u to work in the UK. But thats out of question for most of us.
