German Residence Permit Timeline

Post by Wanderer » Thu Jul 06, 2006 11:49 am

My (russian) gf here in UK on student visa has just been to German Embassy to hand in all the docs for her WP/Residence Permit. The ECO there said it will take up to three months! The Embassy website said 6-10 weeks, and now we have a problem because the German employer is expecting a 01/09/2006 start.

We've only just amassed the main docs required so we've not been tardy, in my book the uni has since they never considered she might need a visa for Germany. OK we know it's down to us but they are quick enough to take the International Student Fees so we expected a bit more help...

Plus the gf is well overdue a visit home but would need to return under short notice to have the visa if granted put into her passport, so we feel relucant to travel.

So, long shot I know but does anyone have any experience of hurrying these Germans along!

Steve
