acknowlegement letter

hi guys

i was having a read of my husbands ack letter and noticed that it read:

our reference xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
your reference: this part was empty.

its got me quite worried, say if i have to chase up his application, i wont have a reference number

is this normal

Unless you provided them with your own reference number, UKBA cannot invent "your reference number" in a letter that they issue to you.

ok, say if i have to phone UKBA shall i provide them with there reference number?
