tier 1 dependent visa processing

Post by neti » Wed Nov 16, 2011 12:48 pm

For tier 1 dependent visa ( my partner back home - out-side UK), do I need to prove English language eligibility for him,

He is applying first time for UK tier 1 visa, I am tier1 general visa holder.

Do He ( Tier 1 dependent ) need to prove his english language skills,

IF YES what documents are required ?

No he does not need to prove english language skills. Are you two married or unmarried partners? Also have you read the guidance notes for dependants from the UKBA? It might be worth reading http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitec ... olicy1.pdf
and

Post by neti » Wed Nov 16, 2011 10:36 pm

thanks scopeD

i heard since dec 2010 this new requirement was added, just wondering if you have considered that.

by the way - we will be married before i apply for his visa.

i m applying for visa immediately after marriage in 3-4 days, hope that should not create problem since i will submit marriage certificate. but we dont have common account or any bills in common names

thanks again for help

regards,

That's not true. Read the Policy Guidance I provided earlier which sets out the requirements. That requirement you mention is for dependants of people who are already settled/British citizens. People will always tell you what they think but the guidance from UKBA will set the record straight.

Great - congrats.

Mandatory Documents
*Marriage Certificate
*Copy of your Tier 1 visa
*Original bank statements (to show you have maintained required balance for 3 months)
*Dependant's passport(s)

Anything else you provide is not mandatory and it is best to provide only those documents which add value to the application. You really do not want to confuse the ECO with unnecessary documents, therefore care needs to be taken what you provide them with.
