Visa Processing time

I applied for my visa extension along with my two dependents on 22 September, I got a biometric appointment letter on 26 Oct and We went for biometric test to croydon on 9 Nov.
After that I was expecting to recieve my visa within a week or two, but I have no information on the application processing till today. Does anybody else gave biometric on nearby dates or does anybody know how much time it ussualy takes to get visa after giving biometric test.
I made an inquiry at UKBA but they can't provide any information before six months of visa application date.
I have urgent travel plans by the end of December and tickets are already booked, any suggestions will be most appreciated.
