Married to a UK citizen and have ancestry visa but need ILR

Hope someone can help.

I have lived in the UK for nearly 3 years and am married to a UK citizen. I am currently on a 5 year ancestry visa from NZ. Stupidly we were under the impression that after 3 years I could apply for ILR however now realise you have to have been on a spouse visa for the first 3 years to be taken into account.

Is there anyway around this? It looks like i can switch category but will then need to wait for a further 2 years to then be able to apply for ILR at which time I will have had my ancestry for 5 years anyway so could apply through that.

The only urgency for IRL is that I want to joing the police. ANy help greatly appreciated.
