Dependant Child born in UK, Citizenship options

Post by umeruzair » Fri Jan 13, 2012 10:20 am

I would like to know that I currently on Tier 1 (General) from almost last 3 years and was on WP 2 years before therefore I will be completing my 5 years in combination of WP & Tier 1 in 2 months time. Between that 5 years time I got married and had a 3 years old daughter. I have following questions would like anyone who have the knowledge of either the similar case or knowledge of immigration laws can kindly please help,

1. As my daughter was born in UK and she has the Tier 1 General (Dependant) visa similar as my wife however someone told me that "if the child has born here in UK, I can apply directly for citizenship for her once I will get the ILR" Is that true? In this case should I not include her with my application then what will be her status in the country as her visa will be expired similar time as mine? Secondly how long should I have to wait on ILR till I apply for her citizenship? Will she automatically get the British passport so then she can travel or not?

Yes.
Thanks for your prompt response.

Could you please clarify it further.

Do you know the procedure and time frame after we get the ILR. Should we apply for her Citizenship next day after we get the ILR or should we need to wait? What will be her status in the country when her current (dependant) status expires. Is it not mandatory for us to apply for her ILR same time to us or she is exempt from it.

Could you please respond to the above as well.
