Limited Company: Year-end accounts/ management accounts

Post by theroyale » Fri Jan 13, 2012 11:59 am

I have read instances of caseworkers asking for company evidence from limited company directors. I have read that they ask to see accounts statements. Now, my year-end accounts and corporation tax return correspond to the end-of-year date for my company, 30th june 2011. Given I am applying in a few days these don't cover the immediate 12 months before my tier-1 application.

Should I ask my accountant to prepare Management Accounts? Would this be useful at all? Or are the last submitted year-end accounts valid evidence?

We, as an example, do management accounts covering the earnings period - this enables the caseworker to match earnings claimed to a set of accounts that cover the earnings period.

I'm not exactly sure how caseworkers work (or think) so I wouldn't like to say that they would not consider accounts that don't coincide with the earnings period. However, looking at it purely from a practical point of view, I would be surprised if they took statutory accounts over a set of management accounts simply because they wouldn't back up what you are claiming without having to ask for further proof.
