Tier1 extension. Is applying directly problematic?

Post by varghesejim » Tue Jan 17, 2012 8:34 am

Hi, my initial visa expires on june 1st. I thought I will go for PEO appointment as my wife need to go home in June and we cannot afford the application taking time. However, if I apply directly will my Visa date start from the date of application which could affect my ILR? I know the rule says its starts from the decision date, but how is it practically done?

Premium application does not guarantee same day decision. search this forum to verify this. there is also a disclaimer on UK BA site about this.

uk ba says if you apply significantly before your visa expiry date they may grant the extension from decision date and not from current leave expiry date. if you apply in the last month before expiry, PEO or postal, you have very high chance of getting extension from date of expiry of current leave or even from after date of expiry if they make a decision after current leave expires. for earlier applications different people have had different experiences.

so you have to decide which is more important in your situation, the june travel or minimizing risks of early extension.
